The Rue headpiece combines a sand-cast lead crown with second-hand leather salvaged from an old coat and color-matched fringe. Cast directly into raw soil, the piece relies on the unpredictable nature of molten metal; the exact final shape remained unknown until the lead completely cooled and solidified within the earth. This process imprints the metal with a rough, organic texture, capturing the volatility of the pour. The resulting metallic crest is mounted onto a padded band of repurposed leather, featuring a dense curtain of fringe that cascades downward to veil the wearer. This piece is 1/1 and handmade in our studio in Athens.
