western decorporealized existence ↔ profile ↔ a disembodied style of life // At the confluence of organic & mechanical states, the body can undergo a MUTATION, becoming a living (and thus dying) machine/transformation into a foreign, ALIEN organism // here I wonder, what is ALIEN? and more importantly, what is NOT alien, hence, what is an earthly, normal, accepted being / in the process of shaping a profile of that person, of that neo-organism, neo-cyborg mutant body, I go back to the questionnaire so that I can comprehend in depth what are the current (trying to avoid the word new, because they have always been there, we are simply unveiling them now to the world) needs of the people around me. In essence, what do people consider to be their weaknesses, faults, imperfections, and failures of their bodies? Do they (we) accept them as they are, or do we want to change, evolve, alter them in some way in order for them to fit a more personalized way of conducting life?\
the body is first decomposed, then recomposed technologically / negotiations between the subject (person) and object (machine) raises the status of subjectivity // the methodology of constructing the neo-cyborg will be parallel to that thought. identify the fault, abstract it and then replace it with a machine that identifies as a new limb
The initial thrust is not just fashion, but the simultaneoiusly essential and superficial ‘nature’ of coverings, the latent eroticism of clothing, the secret language of MASK & SKIN – natural or artificial. Is skin not, paradoxically, the most profound thing about us? A border defining within and without, a protective frontier, the envelope of the flesh, the body’s armor – skin separates and isolates. An interface of PAINS & PLEASURES – skin is both armanent and armor / skin is a medium, a means of communication. (διαχωρισμός σε στοιβάδες) βλ. Sinead O’Dwyer
Σχετικά με την επιδιόρθωση: controlling or recreating a ‘beautiful’ appearence, correcting an excess or making up for a deficit / it is deemed imperative to mechanize bodies / clothing is both tool & body: a garment protects like a tool, it modifies the body’s appearence, even its structure & it signifies, helps the body to have an identity (!)
asexual couplings of androids and humans – painful matings between organs and machines
Σχετικά με την υλικότητα: Learning the use of a tool or instrument is accomplished through a process of INCORPORATION / to bring within a body. That enables to acquire new abilities, can settle into fixed habits and become enveloped within the interior of a body – structure – form from which I inhabit the world.
Zuhanden (Martin Heidegger) – ready to hand, ready for use, placed around us, available for manipulation.
”Tools and instruments constitute components of an equipment, structure forming our environment, and they tend to disappear from our attention when used on a daily basis – as long as they don’t misfunction…The organs and appendages of our body, if in good health tend to elude our explicit attention when a precise action is envisaged and undertaken.”
There is thus a direct connection, a parallel between the DISAPPEARENCE OR ABSENCE of the sensorimotor organs and that of the tools we hold when acting on the worls around us.
