ELVER

Facepiece | Shattered Glass & Golden Wire

The Elver facepiece recontextualizes shattered picture frame glass into a protective shell. Hand painted in a milky, semi-translucent white, the glass fragments are individually encased and bound with gold wire to form a rigid, stained-glass network. Tracing the asymmetrical contours of half the face, the sculpture operates like any garment: as an additive prosthetic layer that fragments and highlights the wearer’s morphological facial features. The hazardous nature of broken glass is tamed into a veil, balancing inherent fragility with spatial defense. This piece is 1/1 and handmade in our studio in Athens.
